Doing business & making profits out of it are not the same but strongly interconnected points. In this competitive market where everyone is equipped with or striving to be equipped with cutting-edge technology, the only difference can be made with TIME.
Printing industry works on strict deadlines. One delayed delivery and probabilities are you’ll lose the client as there are numerous big, middle as well as small print companies who are ready to leverage from your loopholes. And therefore, it is very important to deliver quality work on time or better before-time. However, with so many obstacles including technical & human errors, it is a difficult task but not an impossible one.
We know printing companies have to balance a lot; ensuring quality print product production, meeting the client’s demands, managing infrastructure, keeping an eye on human errors and the list is endless. However, giving a little attention to a few things could be of great help for time-management.
- Selection of Paper
Paper is the very base of any printed material. No matter how eye-catchy the design is, or how crisp and informative the copy is, unless it is readable, it can’t push the sales up. Though, printing on specialty papers garner more attention but it takes a lot of time & painstaking attention. So suggest the client to go for the simple white/coloured papers when they have an urgency for get their project done.
- Ask the Client to Send Print-ready Files
Often clients don’t bother to send the print-ready files to the printing companies. However, it makes the job much easier especially when the deadline-monster is knocking the doors. It is always advisable that the the information on a print-ready-file is captured in a high resolution Portable Document Format or PDF.
- Go Digital
Digital printing is leapfrogging the traditional printing methods in many ways but it turns into a saviour when deadlines are haunting you. It becomes easier for low volume assignments as you’ll be getting high-quality print materials in less time with superior finish.
However, don’t ditch Offset printing if you have to print in large volumes. In that case, Offset turns the best.
- Let Not Ink Pour Water on Your Time-management Strategy
You can’t print without ink. However, few colours take much more time to dry over others. So, before finalising a design, ensure that you’re using colours that dry faster & enhance the overall look of the design.
- Proof-read As Many Times As You Can
Human errors are inevitable but it can be reduced with painstaking attention during pre-press, press & post-press operations. Check & recheck. Proof-read as many times as you can. Always keep in your mind that you can make changes before printing but once printing is done, you’re helpless. Either you have to deliver the assignment with mistakes or you’ll have to print it again. In both cases, you’re at loss.
Hope, these points will help you out to meet deadlines & turn your business into a more profitable avenue. After all, time is money & time-management is the key to success!
