special effects in printing

Special Printing Effects have become quite important in Printing. Now, people don’t ask for Printing Services for the sake of it but are looking for something different. It is not just a job for them that should be completed for the sake of it. It is no longer a simple formality. People have started taking it seriously. The results are here for everyone to see. Quality has become an important aspect for the client as well as the users. When they are spending their hard earned money on something, they want the best quality. This is where Special Printing Effects slot in.

People are naturally interested in seeing the things that attract their eyes the most. It most certainly includes things that are different. Different things pique curiosity. These Special Printing Effects are not an easy job but no great things are. There is a need for changing the way how people look at things. And nothing is better than providing memorable experiences. Incorporating these features with Special Printing Effects is something which is desired b everyone. There is power in printing effects which makes your piece complete and truly memorable. Modern techniques are virtually everywhere and Printing is not going to lag behind in this sector. Businesses that have already used these effects are getting results. There are several ways for you to achieve similar results with your print materials –

  • Embossing

The first point that comes to the mind while talking about Special Printing Effects is Embossing. Embossing means creating a mold so that it stands out from the rest of the design. It is done on the surface of the object to create some kind of impression on another surface. It is a bit different to normal printing where the plates are pressed against the surface to leave an imprint. In this process, a new dimension is added as the pressing raises the surface.

It is considered as an elegant process that raises the standard and quality of the whole product. It adds to the weight as the impact is directly on the impression created by it. Embossing can be done to simplest of the objects and turn them to beautifully designed products. It is one of the most sought Special Printing Effects and is worthy of the highest praise. But you need to be careful about the quality of embossing. Poor quality embossing has the power to completely kills the elegance of the product. If you want to add elegance to your work, go for this effect.

  • Debossing

Debossing comes from the same family as Embossing. In fact, consider debossing as the exact opposite of embossing. Embossing gives you an elevated effect whereas debossing gives a depressed effect. It is imprinted into your print piece. You can use it on either side and it can very well complement Embossing when opting for Special Printing Effects. One of the major differences between both of them is of interference. The effect of embossing is seen on both the side whereas the other one can be perfectly done on one side.

But you have to remember one thing. Not all images can be debossed. The same is also true for Embossing. There are several things to be remembered before go ahead with this. Ask your designer to submit the design in the form of vector art and not as a raster file. In this way, you can resize it up or down without compromising on the quality. It is always helpful to use simple artwork. Debossing looks the best when simple artwork is used. If you try to be too ambitious, the final output might appear to be distorted. Remember these few tips and you are good to go for debossing.

  • Die cutting

In the world of printing, there is different meaning and use of the die. It implies to a thin, razor-sharp steel blade. It is formed into a specific shape and pattern. In most of the cases, it is sort of like a heavy duty cookie cutter. The whole process of Die cutting in Special Printing Effects refers to the process of cutting paper and related stuff with the aid of a sharp die. The benefit of using die cutting is that it is an automated process which means that  multiple pieces of the same shape can be designed in a uniform manner. Standard dies are used are readily available for common processes but if you have any special designs in mind, you can create custom dies.

The uses of die cutting are immense. They are a versatile piece of tool which can either be used to shape the entire perimeter of a printed piece or shape just one end. In any case, it is a terrific form of tool in Special Printing Effects. It is used to enhance the image by making them stand out against another background. One thing to note is that die cutting can be expensive, hence use it for high-end and luxury products.

  • Unique inks

The use of above-mentioned techniques is quite common when going for Special Printing Effects. But these effects are not rich in color. They are the opposite of what we will say color in actual is. But there are other effects which attract the attention of the user. Special Inks has the power to hold the attention leading to increased interaction time with the product. In the long run, it helps in the growth of the brand. Pantone colors, Metallic inks, and bioluminescent inks are some examples of Unique inks.

  • Foil Stamping

Foil stamping is one of the examples of Special Inks. It is a technique which uses a heated die to stamp a mylar-backed material to paper. The advantage of using foil stamp is that it comes in different colors and materials including pearlescence and metallic styles. This type of Special Printing Effect gives a shiny yet professional touch. It is, therefore, becoming the most sought after techniques in special effects.

These points will help you immensely in influencing your decision when going for Special effects.

When I originally commented I seem to have clicked
on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now
whenever a comment is added I receive four emails with the same comment.
Is there an easy method you can remove me from that service?
    Thanks a lot!
